Roof, Windows, and Neighbors - Yippie

My wife and mother-in-law were out shopping near the house and stopped by to see what was going on.  She sent me these first 2 pictures at mid-day...it was hard not to immediately jump in my truck and head down...especially since they were playing with a big Tonka crane!!!

We drove down tonight and they were still there working all the way up till 8:45.  All but a couple of sections of the roof are on and most of the windows.

See Ravenna Ranter - we have the little hole too.

They pulled out and we pulled up.  I took my first picture and our neighbors across the street came out so we went over to introduce ourselves and chit chat a little...then another neighbor came by walking their dog and stopped to chat, and then our next door neighbors came out and before we knew it, it was dark and then started to rain...so not many pictures and no chance to investigate...oh well...that will have to wait till tomorrow night.  Wish they would either install the front door or move it into the garage...makes me nervous propped up against the corner of the house like that...especially with the big crane swinging things around today and the little lift/crane the framers use running around right next to it.  Even our neighbor mention he was surprised to see it sitting like that and one of our big front trusses was sitting in the street laying flat all weekend where anyone could have run over it...at least that is up and installed now so I can stop worrying.

  1. Good gravy goodness BD!!! Your home is HUGE!!! No wonder they call it "the big boy". It's gorgeous too!

Must have been nice to meet the neighbors. Glad they got your "house" out of the road. I still don't understand why that happened. *confused face*

Everything looks great!! Man, for such a big house, they sure are putting it up fast!

  2. @Noey - Agreed...not sure why it was in the road other then the trusses were spread out all over the lot and they were doing some pre-work to a bunch of the external facing ones...like the two peaks in the front were actually assembled together and then lifted up. I am guessing they just needed space, but they could have put up cones or something...oh well...doesn't matter, it's up on the house now.

They are working longggg days...our neighbors said they are there first thing in the morning and last night they didn't get out of there till about 8:45...that's over a 12 hour day!!! And there are 2 more foundations poured and one of those is ready for the framing to start.

  5. WOW! Our house may be getting completed quicker, but boy oh boy is "the big boy" handsome! He is growing up to be one heck or a gentlemen! I love your house so far!

I can't believe they worked a 12 hour day! If it is as hot as it is here, that is amazing!

That is so cool you met some of your neighbors, your Avalon will turn into "home" really quick. Seems like everything is going good. :)

  8. @HW - Thanks...not sure about the catching up bit. We have our home inspector scheduled for next Friday so would think our pre-dry wall would be the following Monday(will know for sure on Friday)...so we are about 11 days behind you.

btw...just like Chelly, your house is no pip-squeak either...
