Avalon Configuration

Met with our sales rep today to finalize all the numbers and agree on our customizations and prices.  Here is the list:

Avalon model - Elevation C - this elevation adds another foot to the foyer, but more important to us it adds 2 feet to the Dining room.
Corner lot - just shy of .4 acres
Brick front
Bay Window - Living Room
3 Car turned garage
Morning room with finished basement below
Professional Kitchen upgrade
Gourmet Island
Cherry Bordeaux 42" cabinets
Granite countertops
Cabinets and Sink in laundry room
4' Extended Family room with finished basement below
Fireplace in Family room
Instead of 2-story family room, we opted to close it off which gains us a sitting area for the master bedroom suite and increases the sizes of all the bedrooms upstairs.  In addition to that, the hall bathroom becomes a Jack and Jill bathroom and the 2nd bedroom becomes a Princess suite with it's own bathroom.
Downstairs powder room converted to a full bath with shower
Sunroom with finished basement below
Solarium with unfinished basement below
Upgraded Owners suite with 3 car garage - this dramatically increases the size of the two walkin closets
Jetted soaking tub
Upgraded front door
Finished Basement
Wet Bar
Media Room which will actually be an exercise room
Basement bathroom with shower
Fireplace in Basement
Basement walkout

Flooring materials:
Hardwood - Foyer, Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Study, and Morning room
Tile - Laundry room, Sunroom, and Master Bath
Carpet - Family Room, Solarium, and Upstairs

Many many many other upgrades and minor options - things like bathroom cabinets and fixtures and numerous ceiling fan rough ins.

Our sales rep is investigating replacing the GE 42" wide refrigerator with the same size with a Ice/Water dispenser on the door...should not be a problem.  In addition to that, we have asked to replace the standard hot water heater with the GE hybrid electric water heater http://www.geappliances.com/heat-pump-hot-water-heater/  The cost is significantly higher for this model, but based on annual cost figures you should recoup the extra cost in 3-4 years.

Drain in the garage does not seem to be an option in this area...not that much of a big deal...just saw it on other blogs as an added option and thought it was a good idea.

We still have to look at additional lighting, electric recepticals, Guardian options, and flooring and granite colors and final selections.  That will be for another day.

We have a tentative closing of mid-September 2011 which would place us with a ground breaking of late June early July.

Just getting started

Not much to post yet.  We have been in preliminary planning stages for a very long time now, but yesterday we finally decided to pull the plug and take the big leap into building a new home.  We met our sales rep at the development yesterday and picked out our homesite.  Then went back to the office and spent the next 2 hours going through and "configuring" our new home.  We have decided to build an Avalon model which has many many options and configurations possible.  We are waiting to hear back from our sales rep on what the price will be.  Once we lock in the price I will provide the details of the configuration we have selected...lets just say that when printed out it was more then 1 page of legal sized paper.

We have never built a new home.  We currently have 2 houses to sell and the new Avalon to build.  2011 is going to be a crazy but fun year.  We won't start the building process for a while yet or at least until house #1 is sold.
